"I have been powerlifting for about 6 years now. After starting to compete, my weights progressively got heavier, and so did the pain. I started seeing a chiropractor every other week, but never felt better when I left that office. Slowly, my pain started to stay. In December of 2006, only four weeks after I had competed in the best meet of my life, I went to the APF Pine Tree Open and got called for depth on all three squat attempts and bombed out of the competition. I started seeing a new chiropractor who stretched out my hips and legs, but the pain still wouldn't go away. I decided it was time for a break until August of 2007 when I started back at the gym. As the weights got heavier, I noticed my hip and leg problem returning. It was then that I was referred to Dr. Coapland. He took the time to listen and worked with me to pinpoint the location and origin of the pain. He got my hip mobile and activated muscle fibers that weren't working and firing correctly. The pains slowly turned into gains at the gym. Unlike many doctors, I was more of a friend to Brett than a patient. He always had words of encouragement and was very enthusiatic in his job. Within just a few visits, I knew that ART, when done correctly, was a beneficial tool to have in your corner. At my latest competition, I had no problems with the weights and actually got personal records in the squat, bench and deadlift. I had a near perfect day. I have never done this before and attribute a lot of my success this day to the practices of Dr. Coapland. Without his knowledge of ART, I don't believe I would have been in the condition I was in. Everyone needs a guy like this in their corner!" Jason Cross - Powerlifter
"With only a month left in training for my first Ironman Triathlon, I encountered a running injury to my IT Band. I immediately sought out Dr. Coapland and Active Release Technique. I was truly unsure as to if and how I was going to run a marathon when just 4 weeks earlier I could not run for 20 minutes before pain set in. Being a runner and triathlete, Dr. Coapland completely understood my injury and my need to get healthy for this event. I met with Dr. Coapland weekly and he worked on my injury all the way up until race day. Well, I was able to run the marathon in 3:49:23....pain free. Thanks, Dr. Coapland!"

“When training for and racing Ironman, one of the main challenges is to stay injury free. Regular ART treatment is key for me to achieve this. Through continuous ART treatment I was able to get through a long racing season without injuries. Many thanks to Brett Coapland for his excellent treatment before Ironman Lake Placid. It helped me greatly to have a successful race!”
Stephan Schwarze - 2006 age group competitor with victories at Ironman Korea, Ironman Canada, and Ironman Lake Placid. Schwarze has competed in 7 Hawaii Ironman World Championships in Kona.
Reflecting on the success of completing my first marathon placing 4th in my age group, and 15th woman over the finish line I realize two people played integral roles: myself for being committed to training and running harder than I thought possible, and Dr. Coapland for his knowledge, patience and unyielding dedication to my success. I could have trudged through the 26.2 miles but I could not have run this kind of race without his expert guidance.
The combination of his passion for running and his knowledge of the body is unsurpassable as a trainer. As injuries inevitably crept up, Dr. Coapland was able to address them and personally adjust my training schedule as needed. Using ART with Dr. Coapland allowed me to continue training through injuries and maintain my training schedule. The value of having someone who is a runner, a trainer, and a therapist cannot be measured . . . well maybe in 3:41:19!
